Research interests
International economics, economic modelling, fiscal decentralisation, poverty and income distribution

Yose Rizal Damuri is an economist at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Currently, he is in charge of preparing CSIS’s monthly updates on Eurasia’s Stability Index for Indonesia. He is also responsible for the further development of the WAYANG Model, a general equilibrium model for Indonesia, developed earlier by a consortium of research institutes that include CSIS. He also teaches at the Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia and several economic and finance short courses in Jakarta. In addition, he occasionally writes in local and national newspapers.

Yose Rizal Damuri received his Sarjana Ekonomi (Bachelor of Economics) from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia in 1996. His thesis was entitled “The cost of protection in the Indonesian automotive industry: A partial equilibrium analysis.” In 1999, he continued his study at the National Centre for Development Studies, Australian National University (ANU), Canberra. At ANU, he received his Master of Economics of Development (MEcDev) degree in 2000, with a research essay, “Indonesia’s agricultural policy reform: A general equilibrium analysis using WAYANG model.” He then worked as a research assistant at the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, ANU before rejoining the Centre in early 2001.

He is currently on study leave to pursue a Doctoral Degree in Geneva, Switzerland.
